Protocol to assess receptor-ligand binding in C. elegans using adapted thermal shift assays

open access: yesSTAR Protocols, 2023
Summary: The Caenorhabditis elegans genome encodes a greatly expanded number of nuclear hormone receptors, many of which remain orphaned. Here, we present a protocol to assess ligand-receptor binding in C.

Ethical, green and sustainable nuclear medicine [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, 2013
IntroductionWe in the nuclear medicine community have always takenpride in the fact that our use of radioactive materials in theform of radiopharmaceuticals is without question for the goodof both our patients and mankind in general. Whilst the“nuclear debate ” has focused on the use of nuclear power, nuclear medicine has distanced itself from such ...

Identification of phosphorylation site on PARP1 mediating its cytosolic translocation in virus-infected HeLa cells

open access: yesSTAR Protocols, 2022
Summary: Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP1) localization is controlled by its phosphorylation state. Here, we describe a protocol to monitor PARP1 subcellular localization in HSV-1-infected HeLa cells using immunofluorescence microscopy and ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Intra- vs. intergenerational justice tradeoffs in nuclear waste storage (W01)

open access: yesSafety of Nuclear Waste Disposal, 2023
. We propose a workshop in two parts (approx. 90 min each) to discuss (i) general dilemmas due to the long time range until an operable solution for the waste problem is found and (ii) an ethics-inspired discussion on the extra burden for communities ...
