Experiments in Nuclear Astrophysics
Nuclear Physics A, 2007Astrophysics is a rapidly growing field, driven by observations from ground and space-based telescopes, which cover all wavelengths, from radio waves to ultra-high energy gamma rays. Nuclear physics experiments provide critical input parameters, which are important for the interpretation of the observational data.

Medical Experience in Nuclear Submarines
Journal of The Royal Naval Medical Service, 1971AbstractA summary of medical experience gained on long detached patrols by British nuclear submarine medical officers is presented. Comparisons with American experience are made and indications of what the new submarine medical officer may expect to meet in his practice at sea on patrol are given. The picture reflects the good standard of health of the

Against Nuclear Weapon Experiments and Nuclear Balance
2001Thanks to his moral integrity Otto Hahn was trusted everywhere. He used it to point uncompromisingly to three important goals. For him the cessation of nuclear weapon tests, not transferring atomic weapons in order not to let the number of atomic powers become larger, and general disarmament were the essential challenges.

Activation Experiments for Nuclear Astrophysics
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2009The study of (γ,n) reactions can be used to constrain the theoretical predictions of the neutron capture cross sections of short‐lived branching points in the s process. The usability of the activation technique to study these (γ,n) reactions is discussed as one example of an activation experiment in nuclear astrophysics.

Recent experiments with nuclear emulsions [PDF]
It is unnecessary to stress the many significant contributions made during the past 20 years to nuclear and high-energy physics by means of the nuclear emulsion technique. One needs only to recall the new particles and decay modes that have been first observed with it. With the development of other powerful techniques, however, such as the

Nuclear reactions play an essential role to address the many-body problem of nuclear structure. Reactions are used to produce exotic nuclei, to populate specific nuclear states and the so-called direct reactions have been a unique tool to built up our representation of the nuclear shell structure.

A cylindrical MWPC for nuclear experiments
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, 1982Abstract We have fabricated a cylindrical MWPC for nuclear experiments in the few GeV region to obtain semi-exclusive information about particle production and to classify the complicated nuclear processes with impact parameters. The performance of the chamber as well as preliminary results of experiments are reported.

Nuclear demagnetization experiments on copper
Cryogenics, 1977Abstract Nuclear demagnetization experiments on Cu are reported, in which the temperature is measured with a pulsed nmr technique on the nuclei in the demagnetization region. The final field of demagnetization acts as the resonance field. The energy absorption rate of the nuclear spin system which may be inferred from the nmr signal and its time ...

Experience with the export of nuclear plants
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1991Abstract Licensing and regulatory aspects represent an important issue during the definition and implementation phase of a nuclear power project. Strict adherence to the principles “licensability in country of origin” and “reference plant as built” may prove to be counterproductive on account of the differences in licensing infrastructure in vendor's

Timing system for nuclear experiments
Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1969Abstract A timing system has been constructed which can automatically actuate different instruments at time intervals and for durations which can be chosen independently to within 0.01 sec. The system replaces 8 separate timing units.
