The influenza A genome consists of eight single-stranded RNA molecules, each associated with an oligomeric core of the structural protein, nucleoprotein, to form a distinct viral ribonucleoprotein (vRNP) complex. vRNPs are the entities responsible for the transcription and replication of the influenza viral RNAs in the nuclei of host cells.

Experimental Cell Research, 2003dUTP nucleotidohydrolase (dUTPase) catalyzes the hydrolysis of dUTP to dUMP and pyrophosphate and is the central regulator of cellular dUTP pools. Nuclear (DUT-N) and mitochondrial (DUT-M) isoforms of the protein have been identified in humans and arise from the same gene by the alternative use of 5' exons.
