The Exploration of Hot Nuclear Matter

Science, 2012
The Primordial Soup Protons and neutrons were originally thought to be indivisible, but we now know that they have constituent parts—quarks. Quarks are bound together tightly through gluons and can only come apart under extreme conditions—conditions believed microseconds after the Big Bang to have formed a hot, dense “soup” of ...

Vector mesons in nuclear matter

Nuclear Physics A, 1999
We present novel results for the ϱ and ω spectral functions in nuclear matter, deduced from a coupled channel analysis of pion-nucleon scattering data.

Density fluctuations in nuclear matter

Il Nuovo Cimento A, 1975
Variational computations of the binding energy per particle for various models of nuclear matter are reported. The main purpose is to compare the results corresponding to a «semi-crystallic» structure characterized by correlated density fluctuations of the four spin-isospin nucleon types, with those corresponding to the standard «Fermi gas» homogeneous

Soliton formation in nuclear matter

Physical Review C, 1992
The propagation of a density disturbance in nuclear fluid is considered for the case when the nuclear equation of state is derived from a Skyrme-type effective nucleon-nucleon potential. It is shown that the velocity-dependent terms of this potential are responsible for the possible formation of solitary waves in nuclear matter.

Poin Dynamics in Nuclear Matter

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1964
Behavior of pions in nuclear matter is different from that of free pions due to strong interactions with nuclear-particles. The modified pion propagator and pion-nucleon coupling are calculated in this paper with the static approximation for nucleons.

Spectral functions in nuclear matter

Physical Review C, 1992
Spectral functions are calculated from mean fields calculated both by Brueckner and by Botermans-Malfliet Green's function methods. Similarities and differences between the two methods are illustrated. Results are shown at normal nuclear matter density and zero temperature.

Quark Matter and Nuclear Collisions

1994
I summarize briefly and qualitatively the content of my lectures. They treated on one hand quark deconfinement and its theoretical basis in finite temperature QCD, and on the other hand high energy nuclear collisions as a way to produce a deconfined state of matter in the laboratory.

Nuclear charge and matter distributions

Contemporary Physics, 1981
The radial distributions of the nuclear charge and nuclear matter, or equivalently of the neutrons and protons, are among the most basic of nuclear properties. Substantial advances in our knowledge of these distributions have been made in recent years, both experimental and theoretical.
