Direct and Indirect Measurements of the 19F(p,α)16O Reaction at Astrophysical Energies Using the LHASA Detector and the Trojan Horse Method

open access: yesUniverse
Fluorine is one of the most interesting elements in nuclear astrophysics. Its abundance can provide important hints to constrain the stellar models since fluorine production and destruction are strictly connected to the physical conditions inside the ...

BRUSLIB and NETGEN: the Brussels nuclear reaction rate library and nuclear network generator for astrophysics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Nuclear reaction rates are quantities of fundamental importance in astrophysics. Substantial efforts have been devoted in the last decades to measuring or calculating them.

Coulomb tunneling for fusion reactions in dense matter: Path integral Monte Carlo versus mean field

open access: yes, 2007
We compare Path Integral Monte Carlo calculations by Militzer and Pollock (Phys. Rev. B 71, 134303, 2005) of Coulomb tunneling in nuclear reactions in dense matter to semiclassical calculations assuming WKB Coulomb barrier penetration through the radial ...

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

NUCLEAR REACTIONS AND NUCLEAR STRUCTURE

open access: yesActa Physica Sinica, 1962
This article reviews the methods of studying the nuclear structure by means of the nuclear reaction as a tool for investigation. It is divided into two parts. The first part is mainly concerned with the properties of the individual low-lying levels of nuclei, a brief outline being given to describe the present situation of cumulation of experimental ...

Circulating tumor cells in metastatic breast cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors – a biomarker analysis of the ALICE and ICON trials

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.

Computer subroutines for the estimation of nuclear reaction effects in proton-tissue-dose calculations [PDF]

open access: yes
Calculational methods for estimation of dose from external proton exposure of arbitrary convex bodies are briefly reviewed. All the necessary information for the estimation of dose in soft tissue is presented.

Probing pre-formed alpha particles in the ground state of nuclei

open access: yes, 2010
In this Letter, we report on alpha particle emission through the nuclear break-up in the reaction 40Ca on a 40Ca target at 50A MeV. It is observed that, similarly to nucleons, alpha particles can be emitted to the continuum with very specific angular ...
