Activation cross sections of deuteron-induced nuclear reactions on hafnium
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2010Abstract Experimental excitation functions for deuteron-induced reactions up to 20 MeV on high purity natural hafnium were measured with the activation method using a stacked foil irradiation technique. Metallic hafnium foils with thickness of 10 μm were stacked together with 50 μm thick aluminium and 12 μm thick titanium foils.

A note on the 3He + D nuclear-reaction cross section
Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1980The cross section of the 3 He + D nuclear reaction has been remeasured since precise knowledge of this is required in ion-beam-analysis applications. Data reported in earlier literature differ by as much as 30%. The 2 D( 3 He, p) 4 He proton yield from D-implanted silicon samples was determined at the laboratory angles 90° and 135° at 3 He energies ...

Determination of the cross section for nuclear reactions in complex nuclear decay chains
Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2002In the present paper decays of genetically connected nuclei are considered and equations for their independent cross sections are derived. An optimisation parameter is proposed for an experiment where spectra of the residual nuclei are studied by the induced activity method.

Nuclear sizes derived from high-energy reaction cross sections
Nuclear Physics A, 1972Abstract An analysis has been made of reaction cross sections for negative pions on a range of nuclei in the momentum region from 20 to 60 GeV/ c . Data for C, Al, Sn and Pb are analysed in terms of nuclear sizes. Assuming the neutron and proton distributions in C are identical it is found that for Pb the best agreement with experiment is obtained ...

The theory of fluctuations in nuclear reaction cross sections
Physics Letters, 1964A Monte Carlo calculation of cross sections was carried out to illustrate probability density distribution, energy autocorrelation function, average number of maxima per unit energy, and the mean varintion of a partial cross section. (R.E.U.)

Resonances and Fluctuations in Nuclear Reaction Cross Sections
Annalen der Physik, 1981AbstractOn the basis of the continuum shell model, an expression for the S‐matrix is derived. The external mixing between shape resonances and resonance states of complicated nuclear structure is investigated. It is shown that the doorway properties of the shape resonances may lead to an l‐dependent transparency of the optical potential and ...

The cross sections of the proton nuclear reactions on Ni isotopes
Radiation Effects and Defects in Solids, 2015The cross sections for the (p, n) and the (p, 2n) reactions on Cd isotopes have been measured by the stacked foil technique and the activation method at proton energies between 3 and 18 MeV. The results have been compared with the calculations accounting for equilibrium and pre-equilibrium emissions.

Some General Properties of Nuclear Reaction and Scattering Cross Sections
Physical Review, 1950This paper deals with some general properties of nuclear reaction and scattering cross sections which can be derived from the dispersion-theoretic treatment of nuclear reactions as given, for example, by Wigner and Eisenbud. The form of the cross section near the resonances is found to satisfy the Breit-Wigner formula with corrections of the order ...

14N(α,p)17O nuclear reaction cross-section at 4.9–6.1 MeV
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2005The 14 N(a,p) 17 O nuclear reaction cross-section was measured in the energy range 4.9–6.1 MeV at the laboratory angle h = 172 in order to apply ion beam analysis to the detection of N in metal oxynitride layers. Comparison between the new calculation and data in literature was performed, highlighting important discrepancies between the new results ...

Proton induced nuclear reactions were measured with stacked-foil technique on natural zirconium targets up to 16.7MeV. Excitation functions were measured for the production of (90,92m,95m,95g,96)Nb and (88)Y. Cumulative cross-section, thick target yields and activation functions were deduced and compared with the available experimental data, as well as
