Nuclear reactor strategies

Energy Policy, 1975
Abstract In the March issue Professors Hafele and Manne described their linear programming model of the transition from fossil to nuclear fuels. The present authors report on the sensitivity analyses they have performed on this model.

The control of nuclear reactors

Proceedings of the IEE - Part B: Radio and Electronic Engineering, 1956
Physical principles of nuclear reactors affecting the design of their control and instrumentation are described. Data are presented for kinetic behavior of the neutron flux for reactivity changes in reactor tynes. The nuclear reactions inherentiy produce nuclides, and effects of these on reactor control and operation are discussed.

Nuclear Reactor Materials and Fuels

2012
The first nuclear reactor was the famous “Chicago Pile” (CP-1) which was built under the west stands of Stagg Field at the University of Chicago on a squash court and went critical on December 2, 1942. The first nuclear materials were uranium in both a metal and an oxide form as the fuel, carbon in a graphite form as the moderator, atmospheric air as ...

Reactor Dosimetry and Nuclear Reactor Regulation

1989
An important function of reactor dosimetry is the verification of fluence values used in the calculation of pressure vessel embrittlement and its impact on (a) the fracture toughness requirements for protection against pressurized thermal shock (Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations [CFR], Part 50.61) and (b) the pressure-temperature operating limits ...
