Silver stain reveals nucleolus organizer regions on a satellited Yq chromosome
Human Genetics, 1978Chromosomes from a patient with a satellited Yq were stained with a silver procedure that differentially stains nucleolus organizer regions. The Yqs stained heavily in all cells examined, indicating the presence of ribosomal cistrons at this region.

Nucleolus-organizing regions of chromosomes in early embryogenesis of laboratory mice
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1983Selective silver staining was used to study optimal conditions for demonstration of nucleolus organizer regions (NORs) of chromosomes in early embryogenesis of the laboratory mouse. The NORs were not observable during the first cleavage division. During the second cleavage, 1-7 NORs per metaphase were demonstrable. The time course of NORs demonstration

[Nucleolus organizer regions (NORs) in metastasizing pleomorphic adenoma].
Anales de la Facultad de Odontologia, 1992The metastasizing pleomorphic adenoma of the salivary glands is a rare variant of pleomorphic adenoma with a benign microscopical appearance, but malignant biological behaviour and production of metastasis. The histopathological study with the routine techniques is not enough for disclosing the nature of these tumors and they are most of the times ...

[Nucleolus organizer regions in pathomorphologic tumor diagnosis].
Veroffentlichungen aus der Pathologie, 1992Morphology and biological behaviour of tumours are closely related to each other and are the main objects of diagnostic tumour pathology. Anaplasia, for example, a well-known cytomorphological criterion of malignancy, is however only an indirect sign of impaired cellular growth control mechanisms.

[Chromosome nucleolus organizer regions of the African green monkey].
Tsitologiia, 1980The silver staining Ag-I for detection of nucleolar organizer regions (NOR) in the African green monkey chromosomes was used. NOR were situated on the secondary constrictions of one pair of homologous marker chromosomes and consisted of two parts. A block of condensed chromatin was seen in the middle of the despiralized portion corresponding to the ...

[Value of nucleolus organizer regions (AgNORs) in dermatologic oncology].
Der Hautarzt; Zeitschrift fur Dermatologie, Venerologie, und verwandte Gebiete, 1995Nucleolus-organizing regions (Ag-NORs) are silver-stained loops of DNA transcribing to ribosomal RNA. Quantitative analysis helps to differentiate normal tissue from malignant tissue and can be used for diagnosis in several kinds of tumours. The analysis of AgNORs can also be used in dermatopathology for diagnostic and prognostic purposes.
