Screening the Irish Marine Biorepository Identifies a New Bryostatin Analog as Potent Inhibitor of Activated B-Cells Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. [PDF]

open access: yesChembiochem
Bryostatin analogs are found to be accumulated in the nudibranch Antiopella cristata collected in Irish waters. These are found to be potent inhibitors of activated B‐cells diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma. Activated B‐cell diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma (ABC‐DLBCL) is an aggressive cancer with poor response to standard chemotherapy.

Combination of Sample Preservation Approaches and DNA Extraction Methods for Long-Read Sequencing of Nudibranchs' Genomes. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
This study aimed to identify the most suitable combination of four tissue preservation approaches and six DNA extraction methods to ensure high‐quality genomic DNA from nudibranchs, suitable for sequencing on the PacBio platform. Our study demonstrates that the success of DNA extractions is influenced by preservation methods, and highlights the ...

New record of Hypselodoris infucata (Rüppell & Leuckart, 1830) (Mollusca, Gastropoda, Chromodorididae) in the Republic of Mauritius [PDF]

open access: yesCheck List, 2022
To date, 179 species belonging to the gastropod infraclass Euthyneura are known from Mauritius. We report for the first time from Mauritius the chromodorid nudibranch, Hypselodoris infucata (Rüppell & Leuckart, 1830), based on 47 sites ...

Can you find me? A new sponge-like nudibranch from the genus Jorunna Bergh, 1876 (Mollusca, Gastropoda, Discodorididae) [PDF]

open access: yesZoosystematics and Evolution, 2023
The nudibranch diversity of the western Indian Ocean is comparatively one of the least studied in the world. In this paper a sponge-like Discodoridae nudibranch Jorunna liviae sp. nov. is described.

Being Safe, but Not Too Safe: A Nudibranch Feeding on a Bryozoan-Associated Hydrozoan

open access: yesDiversity, 2023
Nudibranchs have a mostly carnivorous diet, and they prey on a wide variety of other animal taxa. Many species, mainly belonging to the Cladobranchia suborder, feed on cnidarians, including member of the class Hydrozoa.

In the sea slug Melibe leonina the posterior nerves communicate stomach distention to inhibit feeding and modify oral hood movements

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2022
The sea slug Melibe leonina is an excellent model system for the study of the neural basis of satiation, and previous studies have demonstrated that stomach distention attenuates feeding.

On the occurrence of Stylocheilus longicauda (Quoy & Gaimard, 1825) (Heterobranchia, Aplysiidae) in the Persian Gulf [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Animal Biosystematics, 2021
Stylocheilus longicauda (Quoy & Gaimard, 1825) is a pelagic species in the Aplysiidae family that well distributed in the circumtropical region. In this study, S. longicauda is reported from the Persian Gulf for the first time.

Diel activity correlates with colour pattern morphology of heterobranch sea slugs. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Anim Ecol
The authors show that daytime activity fundamentally shapes the appearance of prey animals to potential predators and that colour pattern phenotypes likely associated with visual signalling are predominantly found in diurnal species of sea slugs. This study showcases novel methodology combining comparative phylogenetic analyses, animal vision modelling,
