Inferring comparative advantage via entropy maximization
We revise the procedure proposed by Balassa to infer comparative advantage, which is a standard tool in Economics to analyze specialization (of countries, regions, etc). Balassa’s approach compares a country’s export of a given product with what would be

A graph‐theoretic approach to randomization tests of causal effects under general interference [PDF]
Interference exists when a unit's outcome depends on another unit's treatment assignment. For example, intensive policing on one street could have a spillover effect on neighbouring streets.

Laser Metal Deposited Ti4822 Hollow Pipe: Experimental and Computational Modelling Study
Laser metal deposition (LMD) of a crack‐free built Ti4822 alloys is challenging. This article reports outstanding characteristics of a hollow pipe that is built with LMD technology when a predicted, nontransformation substrate temperature of 800 °C is used.

The Key Indicators of the Normality of Distribution
Statistics plays an important role in describing the results of various research. The basic role of statistical reasoning is to enable generalizations valid for the entire population to be made on the basis of certain quantitative characteristics of the ...

Kinematic analysis of complex gear mechanisms [PDF]
This paper presents a general kinematic analysis method for complex gear mechanisms. This approach involves the null-space of the adjacency matrix associated with the graph of the mechanism weighted by complex coecients.

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Distributed Network Tomography Applied to Stochastic Delay Profile Estimation [PDF]
In this paper is shown, how delay properties of the edges of a network with stochastic properties can be estimated cooperatively by individual nodes that retain the delay profiles of the entire network. The proposed algorithm adopts null-space projection-

Null and non–rainbow colorings of maximal planar graphs
Abstract For maximal planar graphs of order n ⩾ 4 , we prove that a vertex–coloring containing no rainbow faces uses at most ⌊ 2 n − 1 3 ⌋ colors, and this is best possible. The main ingredients in the proof are classical homological tools. By considering graphs as topological spaces, we introduce the notion of a null coloring,

Assignment and distributed control of laplacian null space in multiagent systems
The benchmark consensus protocol is used by the most notable distributed algorithms for controlling multiagent systems through local interaction rules, where it yields to the well-known Laplacian matrix whose null space is fixed and is spanned by the ...
