Proving the Null Hypothesis

Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology, 1992
In most situations in which an experimental treatment or procedure is to be compared with a standard treatment or procedure, the null hypothesis to be tested states that the two procedures are equally effective. The alternative hypothesis is likely to be one-sided and to state that the experimental procedure is better than the standard.

Accepting the null hypothesis

Memory & Cognition, 1995
This article concerns acceptance of the null hypothesis that one variable has no effect on another. Despite frequent opinions to the contrary, this null hypothesis can be correct in some situations. Null Hypothesis Testing

2019
Null hypothesis testing applies to confirmatory research, where substantive hypotheses are tested. The preferred approach is to construct a confidence interval (CI) because a CI simultaneously assesses the precision of a parameter estimate and tests a null hypothesis on the parameter. Two- and one-sided CIs and two- and one-tailed tests are considered.
