Endocytic Control of Cell‐Autonomous and Non‐Cell‐Autonomous Functions of p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NUMB Ex3‐containing isoforms localize to the plasma membrane, where they recruit p53 through SNX9 and direct it to multivesicular bodies and exosomes. Exported p53 is taken up by neighboring cells and activates nuclear programs, revealing an intercellular, exosome‐based pathway that might help establish a tumor‐suppressive microenvironment.

Toward a uniform account of scrambling and clitic doubling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A commonly held view in the literature on Scrambling and Clitic Doubling is that both constructions are sensitive to Specificity. For this reason Sportiche (1992) proposes to unify the two, an approach which has become quite standard in the relevant ...

Islands in the grammar? Standards of evidence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
When considering how a complex system operates, the observable behavior depends upon both architectural properties of the system and the principles governing its operation.

Reversing the Approach to Null Subjects: A Perspective from Language Acquisition [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2017
This paper proposes a new model for null subjects, and focuses on its implications for language development. The literature on pro-drop generally considers that not allowing null subjects is, informally speaking, the "default" option in natural languages, and appeals to particular morphosyntactic mechanisms in order to account for those languages in ...

Mathematical Prediction for Geometry‐Mediated Cell 3D In‐Growth on Bone Tissue Engineering Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a fundamental pore size dependent pattern of three dimensional bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC) infiltration within porous scaffolds, where small pores promote horizontal cellular bridging and large pores facilitate vertical migration.

A CLOSER LOOK AT (LACK OF) OBVIATION PHENOMENA IN ROMANIAN SUBJUNCTIVE COMPLEMENTS [PDF]

open access: yesBucharest Working Papers in Linguistics, 2011
The paper looks at Romanian subjunctive complements selected by volitional verbs and considers the interpretation of their null subjects and why – unlike the case of other Romance languages – these can co-refer with a main clause antecedent (what has ...

From Natural Discovery to AI‐Guided Design: A Curated Collection of Compact Enhancers for Crop Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Precise transgene‐free gene upregulation remains a challenge in crop biotechnology, as conventional enhancers often exceed CRISPR‐mediated knock‐in size constraints and face regulatory hurdles. Here we establish a foundational cross‐species resource of compact transcriptional enhancers developed via STEM‐seq, a high‐throughput screening ...
