NUMA Time Warp [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 3rd ACM SIGSIM Conference on Principles of Advanced Discrete Simulation, 2015
It is well known that Time Warp may suffer from large usage of memory, which may hamper the efficiency of the memory hierarchy. To cope with this issue, several approaches have been devised, mostly based on the reduction of the amount of used virtual memory, e.g., by the avoidance of checkpointing and the exploitation of reverse computing.

Mid-term result of acetabular reconstruction using a Kerboull-type acetabular reinforcement device with hydroxyapatite impaction

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation, 2022
The aim of this study is to investigate the mid-term results of 29 hips in 26 patients who underwent acetabular reconstruction using a Kerboull-type acetabular reinforcement device and impaction with hydroxyapatite (HA) granules.

A PetriNet mechanism for OLAP in NUMA [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 13th International Workshop on Data Management on New Hardware, 2017
In the parallel execution of queries in Non-Uniform Memory Access (NUMA), the operating system maps database processes/threads (i.e., workers) to the available cores across the NUMA nodes. However, this mapping results in poor cache activity with many minor page faults and slower query response time when workers and data are allocated in different NUMA

Mechanisms of spindle bipolarity establishment in acentrosomal human cells

open access: yesMolecular & Cellular Oncology, 2020
Centrosomes are not absolutely essential for cell division; acentrosomal bipolar spindles can be established in oocytes and centrosome-eliminated somatic cells.

open access: yesDesenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente, 2017

Compact NUMA-aware Locks

open access: yesProceedings of the Fourteenth EuroSys Conference 2019, 2019
Modern multi-socket architectures exhibit non-uniform memory access (NUMA) behavior, where access by a core to data cached locally on a socket is much faster than access to data cached on a remote socket. Prior work offers several efficient NUMA-aware locks that exploit this behavior by keeping the lock ownership on the same socket, thus reducing ...

Extending OpenMP for NUMA Machines

open access: yesScientific Programming, 2000
This paper describes extensions to OpenMP that implement data placement features needed for NUMA architectures. OpenMP is a collection of compiler directives and library routines used to write portable parallel programs for shared‐memory architectures. Writing efficient parallel programs for NUMA architectures, which have characteristics of both shared‐
