The Theory of Numbers [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1939
THE theory of numbers has an appeal to general interest, not shared by other branches of mathematics, in that most of the great unsolved problems of the subject are formulated in terms intelligible to everybody. There must be many people of limited mathematical attainments who have felt attracted to the subject, but whose interest has died away for the

The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

One special kind of Kloosterman sum and its fourth-power mean

open access: yesOpen Mathematics
This article aims to investigate the calculation problem of the fourth-power mean of the specific Kloosterman sums by utilizing analytic methods and the properties of classical Gauss sums.

Analysis of some statistics for increasing tree families [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2004
This paper deals with statistics concerning distances between randomly chosen nodes in varieties of increasing trees. Increasing trees are labelled rooted trees where labels along any branch from the root go in increasing order.

Quantum Probabilistic Subroutines and Problems in Number Theory

open access: yes, 2000
We present a quantum version of the classical probabilistic algorithms $\grave{a}$ la Rabin. The quantum algorithm is based on the essential use of Grover's operator for the quantum search of a database and of Shor's Fourier transform for extracting the ...

Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...

On the generalized exponential sums and their fourth power mean

open access: yesOpen Mathematics
The main purpose of this article is to study the calculating problem of the fourth power mean of the two-term exponential sums and provide an accurate calculating formula for utilizing analytical methods and character sums’ properties. In the meantime, a

Some identities of the generalized bi-periodic Fibonacci and Lucas polynomials

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
In this paper, we considered the generalized bi-periodic Fibonacci polynomials, and obtained some identities related to generalized bi-periodic Fibonacci polynomials using the matrix theory.

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.
