Numerical and experimental exploration of phase control of chaos

open access: yesChaos, 2006
A well-known method to suppress chaos in a periodically forced chaotic system is to add a harmonic perturbation. The phase control of chaos scheme uses the phase difference between a small added harmonic perturbation and the main driving to suppress chaos, leading the system to different periodic orbits.

COMPARATIVE STUDY OF VARIATIONAL CHAOS INDICATORS AND ODEs' NUMERICAL INTEGRATORS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos in Applied Sciences and Engineering, 2012
The reader can find in the literature a lot of different techniques to study the dynamics of a given system and also, many suitable numerical integrators to compute them. Notwithstanding the recent work of [Maffione et al., 2011b] for mappings, a detailed comparison among the widespread indicators of chaos in a general system is still lacking.

An Improved Calculation Formula of the Extended Entropic Chaos Degree and Its Application to Two-Dimensional Chaotic Maps

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
The Lyapunov exponent is primarily used to quantify the chaos of a dynamical system. However, it is difficult to compute the Lyapunov exponent of dynamical systems from a time series.

An Empirical Test on Harrod’s Open Economy Dynamics

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
This paper has the objective to empirically test Harrod’s explanations of economic dynamics addressing both growth and business cycles. In particular we test Harrod’s speculation that opening the economy to foreign trade could lead to a ...

Chaos in a Financial System with Fractional Order and Its Control via Sliding Mode

open access: yesComplexity, 2021
In this paper, the dynamical behaviors and chaos control of a fractional-order financial system are discussed. The lowest fractional order found from which the system generates chaos is 2.49 for the commensurate order case and 2.13 for the incommensurate

Corrigendum to “Chaos in a Financial System with Fractional Order and Its Control via Sliding Mode”

open access: yesComplexity, 2021
In this paper, the dynamical behaviors and chaos control of a fractional-order financial system are discussed. The lowest fractional order found from which the system generates chaos is 2.49 for the commensurate order case and 2.57 for the incommensurate

Dual-frequency shift leads to chaos and beating in an erbium-doped fiber laser [PDF]

open access: yesITM Web of Conferences, 2022
We present a dual-frequency shift scheme to produce chaos and beating in an erbium-doped fiber laser while we give this laser physics model including a photo attenuator absorbing the photon, where the absorption frequency of the photo attenuator can be ...
