A stabilized algorithm for multi-dimensional numerical differentiation
We develop a multi-dimensional numerical differentiation method in this paper. To obtain stable numerical derivatives, the Tikhonov regularization method in Hilbert scales is proposed to deal with illposedness of the problem. The penalty term in Tikhonov

Minimal numerical differentiation formulas [PDF]
We investigate numerical differentiation formulas on irregular centers in two or more variables that are exact for polynomials of a given order and minimize an absolute seminorm of the weight vector. Error bounds are given in terms of a growth function that carries the information about the geometry of the centers.

Numerical differentiation on scattered data through multivariate polynomial interpolation [PDF]
We discuss a pointwise numerical differentiation formula on multivariate scattered data, based on the coefficients of local polynomial interpolation at Discrete Leja Points, written in Taylor’s formula monomial basis.

A new regularization approach for numerical differentiation [PDF]
It is well known that the problem of numerical differentiation is an ill-posed problem and one requires regularization methods to approximate the solution.

Data smoothing with applications to edge detection
The aim of this paper is to present a new stable method for smoothing and differentiating noisy data defined on a bounded domain Ω⊂RN\Omega \subset {{\mathbb{R}}}^{N} with N≥1N\ge 1.

Managing temporary workers in higher education: still at the margin? [PDF]
Purpose – To evaluate whether “numerical flexibility” – specifically a form of temporary and precarious employment – hourly-paid part-time teaching in the UK higher education sector – adds strategic value and demonstrates good practice.

A Two-Stage Method for Parameter Identification of a Nonlinear System in a Microbial Batch Process
This paper deals with the parameter identification of a microbial batch process of glycerol to 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PD). We first present a parameter identification model for the excess kinetics of a microbial batch process of glycerol to 1,3-PD.
