Full frequency dispersive numerical modeling of Tsunamis
2011A numerical model based on the mild slope equation is applied to reproduce the propagation of small amplitude transient waves over mildly sloped sea bed. The model is suitable to reproduce the tsunami far field propagation. In the present research the waves are generated by a forcing term included in the mild slope equation that represents the effects ...

The stability condition is derived for the compact two-dimensional finite-difference-time-domain (2-D/FDTD) scheme which was recently proposed for the dispersion analysis of waveguiding structures. It is shown that the upper limit of the Courant number depends on the desirable propagation constant beta and is always smaller than the one for the ...

Avoiding numerical dispersion in option valuation
Computing and Visualization in Science, 2007This paper shows how to handle ill-posed option valuation problems with finite differences. Approximating the (multidimensional) Black-Scholes PDE by a difference scheme, the solution often shows numerical oscillations. It is known that dispersion is a reason for these wiggles.

Numerical simulation of poly-dispersed systems
2008Multi-size equations of Iddir and Arastoopour [2005] incorporated in the MFIX code were used to predict particle segregation and annular flow of particles in a riser section of a PSRI CFB. However, the multi-size approach requires a considerable amount of computational time when several particulate phases are considered.
