Numerical methods for the '80s
Proceedings of the May 19-22, 1980, national computer conference on - AFIPS '80, 1980After more than a decade of emphasis on commercial applications, scientific computing is again emerging as an important area. This session will present two papers, one dealing with methods for making use of the new parallel architectures now being marketed, and the other presenting a language which makes matrix computations accessible to the scientist ...

Analysis of Nets by Numerical Methods
Journal of the ACM, 1960The assignment of prime numbers to the branches of directed or non-directed nets, enables one to construct transition matrices in a numerical, rather than a symbolic, form. The numerical form greatly facilitates the construction of higher-order transition matrices, needed for the topological analysis of a given net.

In the context of Performance Evaluation (PE), numerical analysis methods refer to those methods which work with a Markov chain representation of the system under evaluation and use techniques from the domain of numerical analysis to compute stationary and/or transient state probabilities or other measures of interest.

Numerical modeling of the atmosphere is challenging because of the enormous range of space and timescales involved, and because many qualitative features, such as balance and conservation, must be accurately captured. We discuss here a number of topics that have proved important historically in the development of numerical models of the atmosphere ...

The textbook describes the basics of numerical methods for solving problems of mathematical analysis, linear algebra and ordinary differential equations. Considerable attention is paid to the issues of algorithmization of methods. It can be used when performing laboratory, course, final qualification and research works.
