Comparison of experimental and numerical sloshing loads in partially filled tanks [PDF]
Sloshing phenomenon consists in the movement of liquids inside partially filled tanks, whichgenerates dynamic loads on the tank structure. Resulting impact pressures are of great importance in assessingstructural strength, and their correct evaluation ...

Numerical results for the blue phases [PDF]
We review recent numerical work investigating the equilibrium phase diagram, and the dynamics, of the cholesteric blue phases. In equilibrium numerical results confirm the predictions of the classic analytical theories, and extend them to incorporate different values of the elastic constants, or the effects of an applied electric field.

Control over the deployment of an orbital tether system of great length
Control of deploying an extended tether system into the vertical position is considered in the paper. It is assumed that in the initial state the system consisting of two space vehicles moves in a circular Earth orbit. We propose nominal control programs

Numerical Results for the Metropolis Algorithm [PDF]
This paper deals with the spectrum of an operator associated with a special kind of random walk. The operator is related to the Metropolis algorithm, an important tool of large-scale scientific computing. The spectrum of this operator has both discrete and continuous parts.

A numerical evaluation of solvers for the periodic Riccati differential equation
Efficient and accurate structure exploiting numerical methods for solving the periodic Riccati differential equation (PRDE) are addressed. Such methods are essential, for example, to design periodic feedback controllers for periodic control systems ...

Perron-Frobenius type results on the numerical range
We present results connecting the shape of the numerical range to intrinsic properties of a matrix A. When A is a nonnegative matrix, these results are to a large extent analogous to the Perron–Frobenius theory, especially as it pertains to ...
