On numerical approximation schemes for expectation propagation

open access: yesCoRR, 2016
Several numerical approximation strategies for the expectation-propagation algorithm are studied in the context of large-scale learning: the Laplace method, a faster variant of it, Gaussian quadrature, and a deterministic version of variational sampling (i.e., combining quadrature with variational approximation).

Hilbert schemes of hypersurfaces and numerical criterions.

open access: yesMATHEMATICA SCANDINAVICA, 1985
The paper studies n-dimensional varieties in \({\mathbb{P}}^ N\) which are hypersurfaces in some linear subspace. These are called n-hypersurfaces. The first theorem in the paper states that if \(n>0\), then a subscheme of \({\mathbb{P}}^ N\) with the Hilbert polynomial of an n-hypersurface is indeed an n-hypersurface.

Numerical schemes for the solution of the telegrapher equation

open access: yesNumerical Algorithms
Abstract The present work deals with the numerical resolution of the telegrapher equation. We present various numerical explicit and implicit schemes for problems defined in one-dimensional domains. In this case, we consider, on one hand, Dirichlet boundary value conditions and in the other hand, the mixed ones.
