Turbulent pair dispersion in the presence of gravity

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
Turbulent pair dispersion of heavy particles is strongly altered when particles of two different Stokes numbers (bidisperse) are considered, and this is further compounded when a uniform gravitational acceleration is present.

Numerical simulation of gluey particles [PDF]

open access: yesESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis, 2008
We propose here a model and a numerical scheme to compute the motion of rigid particles interacting through the lubrication force. In the case of a particle approaching a plane, we propose an algorithm and prove its convergence towards the solutions to the gluey particle model proposed by B. Maury.

An Analysis for IDH‐Mutant Grade 4 Astrocytoma Based on WHO CNS 5: Implication of Clinical Practice

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 12, Issue 7, Page 1442-1453, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Purpose There is ongoing debate regarding the therapeutic approach and prognosis for IDH‐mutant grade 4 astrocytoma, a newly defined subtype of diffuse glioma in the 2021 WHO classification system for central nervous system tumors (WHO CNS 5). The aim of this study was to explore the clinical outcome and prognosticators for newly diagnosed IDH‐

Bioinspired composite segmented armour: Numerical simulations

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2019
Nature has evolved ingenious armour designs, like the flexible carapaces of armadillo and boxfish consisting of hexagonal segments connected by collagen fibres, that serve as bioinspiration for modern ballistic armours.

Numerical simulations of quasar absorbers [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2005
The physical state of the intergalactic medium can be probed in great detail with the intervening absorption systems seen in quasar spectra. The properties of the Hydrogen absorbers depend on many cosmological parameters, such as the matter-power spectrum, reionisation history, ionising background and the nature of the dark matter.

Numerical Simulations of Driven Relativistic MHD Turbulence

open access: yes, 2011
A wide variety of astrophysical phenomena involve the flow of turbulent magnetized gas with relativistic velocity or energy density. Examples include gamma-ray bursts, active galactic nuclei, pulsars, magnetars, micro-quasars, merging neutron stars, X ...

Numerical simulations of galactic wakes [PDF]

open access: yes
We have performed a series of numerical simulations which examine the simple but realistic case of a galaxy with a smooth potential corresponding to a King profile, and with no interstellar medium.

Direct numerical simulations of aeolian sand ripples

open access: yes, 2014
Aeolian sand beds exhibit regular patterns of ripples resulting from the interaction between topography and sediment transport. Their characteristics have been so far related to reptation transport caused by the impacts on the ground of grains entrained ...
