Numerical Modeling of Coupled Surge-Heave Sloshing in a Rectangular Tank with Baffles

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
Liquid sloshing under coupled surge and heave excitations in a rectangular tank has been numerically investigated by applying a Navier–Stokes solver. Fieriest coupled sloshing was further considered, and the internal baffle was expected to suppress the ...

A Study on the Generation for the Design Waves with a Numerical Wave Tank [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Society of Naval Architects of Korea, 2005
In this study, a new numerical procedure for the generation of a nonlinear tailored group of waves is presented. The procedure is based on the transient wave group technique. In order to integrate the nonlinearity during the wave propagation in the computational method, the Navier-Stokes equations are applied as governing equations.

Biodegradable Acoustic Targeting for Ultrasound‐Supported Gene Therapy (BATUS) in Glioblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glioblastoma (GBM) remains one of the most challenging brain malignancies due to the restrictive nature of the blood–brain barrier (BBB), which severely limits effective drug and gene delivery. To overcome this, we introduce Biodegradable Acoustic Targeting for Ultrasound‐Supported Gene Therapy (BATUS), a modular platform that enables safe ...

Development of a Numerical Wave Tank Using OpenFoam

open access: yes, 2012

Dictionary‐based weak‐form training for noise‐robust series hybrid models with multiplicative unknowns

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hybrid modeling combines first‐principles equations with a data‐driven subcomponent. Training for the data‐driven part is sensitive to measurement noise when training targets are constructed using pointwise time derivatives. Beyond differentiation errors, hybrid models involve solving an inverse problem to estimate the data‐driven term, which ...

A third-order KdV solution for internal solitary waves and its application in the numerical wave tank

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering and Science, 2016
A third-order KdV solution to the internal solitary wave is derived by a new method based on the weakly nonlinear assumptions in a rigid-lid two-layer system. The solution corrects an error by Mirie and Su (1984).

Cteno‐Bot: An Untethered Metachronally Swimming Robot With Magnetoactive Propulsors

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
We present Cteno‐bot, an untethered ctenophore‐inspired robot which swims using metachronally coordinated appendages. A single mechanism controls up to 216 magnetoactive propulsors via a dynamically varying magnetic field. We show that the swimming speed of the robot can be increased without a corresponding increase in power requirement, simply by ...

Numerical simulation study of wave dissipation performance of step‐type breakwaters

open access: yesEngineering Reports
To improve the force endurance capacity of plate breakwaters, a step‐type plate breakwater was proposed. The performance of the step‐type breakwater was investigated by numerical simulation method. First, a two‐dimensional numerical regular wave tank was
