Fundamental units of numerosity estimation
Humans can approximately enumerate a large number of objects at a single glance. While several mechanisms have been proposed to account for this ability, the fundamental units over which they operate remain unclear. Previous studies have argued that estimation mechanisms act only on topologically distinct units or on units formed by spatial grouping ...

ABSTRACT Background Cyclophosphamide (CY) is associated with potentially fatal cardiotoxicity, yet no electrocardiographic indices have been established for early detection of CY‐induced cardiomyopathy. This study aimed to determine whether corrected QT interval (QTc) prolongation can predict early onset of CY‐related cardiac dysfunction in pediatric ...

The Effects of Auditory Numerosity and Magnitude on Visual Numerosity Representation: An ERP Study
Numerical representation is not restricted to sensory modalities. It remains unclear how numerosity processing in different modalities interacts within the brain.

Are people really conformist-biased? An empirical test and a new mathematical model [PDF]
According to an influential theory in cultural evolution, within-group similarity of culture is explained by a human 'conformist-bias', which is a hypothesized evolved predisposition to preferentially follow a member of the majority when acquiring ideas ...

ABSTRACT Surveillance imaging aims to detect tumour relapse before symptoms develop, but it's unclear whether earlier detection of relapse leads to better outcomes in children and young people (CYP) with medulloblastoma and ependymoma. This systematic review aims to identify relevant literature to determine the efficacy of surveillance magnetic ...

ABSTRACT Introduction Neuroblastoma (NB) with central nervous system (CNS) metastases is rare at diagnosis, but occurs more often during relapse/progression. Patients with CNS metastases face a dismal prognosis, with no standardized curative treatment available.

Numerosity perception after size adaptation [PDF]
AbstractWhile some researchers propose the existence of a special numerosity sense, others challenge this view and argue that numerosity is derived from low-level features as density information. Here, we used size adaptation to manipulate the apparent area size of an object set without changing its physical density.

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.

Animal Cognition, Species Invariantism, and Mathematical Realism [PDF]
What can we infer from numerical cognition about mathematical realism? In this paper, I will consider one aspect of numerical cognition that has received little attention in the literature: the remarkable similarities of numerical cognitive capacities ...
