The surprising complexity and diversity of sperm storage structures across Galliformes

Female birds utilise specialised sperm storage tubules in the reproductive tract, which ensure sperm are always available for fertilisation, whilst also potentially facilitating female sperm selection . Here, we show that sperm storage tubules, and the surrounding tissue, can vary substantially in morphology across species of Galliformes.
