Seasonal changes in the contents of nutrients in five macrophyte species from the lake Velenjsko jezero (Slovenia)

open access: yesActa Biologica Slovenica, 2008
The study was designed to depict the seasonal dynamic in relative abundance of macrophyte species, nutrient availability and their content in macrophytes to assess the capability of different species to store nutrients in nutrient rich lake Velenjsko ...

Relationships between key functional traits of the waterlily Nuphar lutea and wetland nutrient content [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2019
Little attention has been paid to how aquatic habitat characteristics affect the traits of plant species. Nuphar lutea (L.) Sm. is a keystone species distributed across temperate regions of Europe, northwest Africa and western Asia.

Changes in macroelement content of rhizomes of Nuphar lutea (L.) Sibith. and Sm. during the annual cycle

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2011
This study presents the results of studies on the chemical composition of rhizomes of Nuphar lutea which were carried out from July 2006 to November 2007 (the samples were collected at two-week intervals from March to November 2007). The first indication

Evaluation of Nuphar lutea as bioindicator of metal pollution in freshwater ecosystems

open access: yesEcological Indicators, 2022
Macrophytes have a capacity to absorb elements from the water and sediment and some species can be bioindicators of pollution. The uptake of 12 metals by Nuphar lutea from 56 water bodies was studied to evaluate its bioaccumulation potential and ...

A step into the shadows: Evolutionary shifts in fruit structure and dispersal strategies in Asian mycoheterotrophic Ericaceae

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
This study examines how the fruits of non‐photosynthetic forest plants in the Monotropoideae (Ericaceae) have evolved into the diversity observed today. By analyzing four Asian species, we identified a shift from dry, dehiscent fruits that release seeds into the air to fleshy, berry‐like fruits adapted for animal dispersal.

Palaeoenvironmental and climatic changes from the lateglacial of the Saalian to the Late Weichselian in central Poland: a multiproxy study from Józefów

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Józefów site is a case study which provides a detailed record of environmental and climate changes and confirms the main traces of the landscape morphogenesis of the Late Pleistocene established in central‐eastern Europe. This study presents a multiproxy reconstruction of palaeoenvironment under variable climatic conditions from the retreat of the ...
