Measurement-based modification of NURBS surfaces
Computer-Aided Design, 2002A frequent requirement in computer aided design and manufacture is to update or refine an existing CAD model using measured data. Least squares surface fitting is known to suffer from stability problems, caused by an insufficient measurement density in some regions.

NURBS-compatible subdivision surfaces
2010Two main technologies are available to design and represent freeform surfaces: Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS) and subdivision surfaces. Both representations are built on uniform B-splines, but they extend this foundation in incompatible ways, and different industries have therefore established a preference for one representation over the other.

NURBS surface generation by control points
2011 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Communication Software and Networks, 2011A method on how to generate traditional quadrilateral NURBS surfaces, non-quadrilateral NURBS surfaces, such as triangle NURBS (Non-uniform Rational B-spline) surfaces and pentagon NURBS surfaces and their equidistant surfaces is presented. A NURBS surface is a bi-parameter surface, and the surface can be generated in accordance with its parameters ...

Curvature adapted triangulation of NURBS surfaces
13th Computational Fluid Dynamics Conference, 1997Full exploitation of the sophisticated physical modeling capabilities of computational fluid dynamics has been hampered by the inability to generate high quality grids in a timely manner. Complex geometries further exacerbate grid generation difficulties.

NURBS for curve and surface design
Computer-Aided Design, 1993From the Publisher: NURBS (nonuniform rational B-splines) promises to be the future geometry standard for free-form curves and surfaces. This volume contains recent results and new NURBS techniques and developments--the most important being curve/surface from the CAD/CAM industry. The book has been carefully refereed.

3D NURBS representation of surfaces for illumination
SPIE Proceedings, 2002Use of NURBS surfaces to create facets on a reflecting surface will be considered. Specifically, the design of a reflector that generates a circular illuminance pattern will be investigated. Important considerations are: choice of variables used to represent a NURBS surface, total number of variables, parameterization and/or knot vector specification ...
