Enhanced mitochondrial activity reshapes a gut microbiota profile that delays NASH progression

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Improved mitochondrial activity, due to the lack of methylation‐controlled J protein (MCJ), creates a specific microbiota signature that when transferred through cecal microbiota transplantation delays NASH progression by restoring the gut‐liver axis and enhancing hepatic fatty acid oxidation.

Amino Acid‐Sensing Neurons in the Anterior Piriform Cortex Control Brown Adipose Tissue Thermogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a class of amino acid‐sensing neurons, APCCRH neurons, which regulate BAT thermogenesis. Leucine deficiency alters intrinsic excitability through GCN2 signaling pathway, activating APCCRH neurons, which in turn regulate BAT thermogenesis via projections to the lateral hypothalamus.

Loss of hepatic SMLR1 causes hepatosteatosis and protects against atherosclerosis due to decreased hepatic VLDL secretion

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
The role of SMLR1 in lipid metabolism (high fat + cholesterol diet in mice) Abstract Background and Aims The assembly and secretion of VLDL from the liver, a pathway that affects hepatic and plasma lipids, remains incompletely understood. We set out to identify players in the VLDL biogenesis pathway by identifying genes that are co‐expressed with the ...

Comparing the Preventive Effect of Combination of Ketamine with Metoclopramide or Fentanyl on the Postoperative Pain after Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy under General Anesthesia

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2015
Background: Pain is one of the most common postoperative complications that can be reduced via different methods like combination of two or more drugs to make synergistic effect. This research aimed to comparing the preventive effect of using combination

The Anesthesiologist-Anesthetist Team [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
In summary, I call upon anesthesia educators to abandon technician-training programs and instead help us develop nurse anesthetist programs to a higher level nationally. Let us remove our finger from the panic button and begin working together as a team,

Macrophage‐Mediated Transport of Insoluble Indirubin Induces Hepatic Injury During Intestinal Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant‐derived bioactive molecules with low solubility and permeability induce hepatocyte injury, though the mechanisms driving their hepatic effects remain poorly understood. This study identifies a novel transport pathway in which poorly soluble indirubin accumulates in the liver via macrophage‐mediated uptake in Peyer's patches, exacerbating hepatic ...

Mitochondrial stress in advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis associated with chronic hepatitis B, chronic hepatitis C, or nonalcoholic steatohepatitis

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Adaptive mitochondrial mechanisms allow mitochondrial resilience and prevent the worsening of fibrosis, while deregulation of these mechanisms promotes the progression from no/minimal‐mild (F0‐F2) fibrosis to advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis (F3‐F4). Abstract Background and Aims Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection causes oxidative stress (OS) and alters ...

Refractive Index‐Corrected Light‐Sheet Microscopy for Macro‐View Cardiovascular Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A refractive index‐corrected light‐sheet fluorescence microscopy system enables macro‐view cardiovascular imaging across organs, adapting to refractive index variations from different optical clearing protocols. By integrating axial sweeping, multi‐view imaging, and a sealed chamber, it extends the field of view, enhances isotropy, and improves safety.
