Feasibility study of skin dosimetry with TLD sheets for measuring the effect of 3D printed bolus in radiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract The thermoluminescence dosimeter (TLD) sheet is a measurement device coated with manganese‐doped LiB3O5 in sheet form. The sheet is 0.2‐mm thick and flexible. Hence, it can fit and be installed on irregular surfaces. The current study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of measuring patient surface doses during radiation therapy using TLD sheets.

Query-Guided Self-Supervised Summarization of Nursing Notes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Nursing notes, an important part of Electronic Health Records (EHRs), track a patient's health during a care episode. Summarizing key information in nursing notes can help clinicians quickly understand patients' conditions. However, existing summarization methods in the clinical setting, especially abstractive methods, have overlooked nursing notes and

Evaluation of the effect of metal stents on dose perturbation in the carbon beam irradiation field

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Propose Carbon ion therapy is indicated for cases in which stents have been inserted, such as bile ducts, but the effect of metal stents on carbon ion therapy is unclear. In this study, the dose perturbation of carbon ion therapy caused by metallic bile duct stents was evaluated by dosimetry. Materials and methods Five different types of metal

Methods for working with problem residents in medical physics residency education

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Medical physics residency training programs may occasionally encounter residents requiring additional intervention beyond normal training efforts. In the literature, these residents are referred to as “problem” residents. While the physician literature on the subject is valuable, this paper specifically focuses on dealing with a problem ...

Enhancing Nursing and Elderly Care with Large Language Models: An AI-Driven Framework [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
This paper explores the application of large language models (LLMs) in nursing and elderly care, focusing on AI-driven patient monitoring and interaction. We introduce a novel Chinese nursing dataset and implement incremental pre-training (IPT) and supervised fine-tuning (SFT) techniques to enhance LLM performance in specialized tasks. Using LangChain,
