Predicting Aesthetic Outcome of the Nuss Procedure in Patients with Pectus Excavatum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Patients suffering from pectus excavatum often experience psychosocial distress due to perceived anomalies in their physical appearance. The ability to visually inform patients about their expected aesthetic outcome after surgical correction is still ...

The Nuss procedure after breast augmentation for female pectus excavatum

open access: yes, 2010
Pectus excavatum, the most common congenital chest wall malformation, has a higher incidence among men. Since 1987, when Donald Nuss performed his technique for the first time, the minimally invasive approach has become the most widely used technique for

Complications of the "Nuss Procedure" In Pectus Excavatum. [PDF]

open access: yesTransl Med UniSa, 2020
During the pediatric age range, one the most frequent deformities of the chest wall are Pectus Excavatum (PE). Currently the treatment of choice for PE is surgical intervention following the Nuss procedure.

Molecular bases of insect odorant receptor function: specificity and evolution

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 2, Page 1036-1049, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Insect odorant receptors (ORs) are a class of chemoreceptors that insects use to detect volatile cues in their environment. In recent years, major advances in the field of structural biology have made it possible to obtain the first structures of insect ORs.

Changes in chest wall motion with removal of Nuss bar in repaired pectus excavatum – a cohort study

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2019
Background The effects of the Nuss procedure on chest wall motion and spirometry have previously been described; we aimed to describe the effects of removal of the Nuss bar.

Seismic Design of Concrete Dams: An Integrated Risk‐Informed Performance‐Based (RIPB) Framework

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 5, Page 1019-1049, 25 April 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper advances the integration of risk‐informed principles into the seismic design of dams—a domain long guided by standards‐based, largely deterministic approaches. While performance‐based earthquake engineering is well established for buildings and bridges, its systematic adoption in dam engineering remains limited. We first address two

Local canopy cover, shade tree identity and landscape tree cover shape leaf‐cutter ant nest density and herbivory in cacao agroforestry systems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 4, April 2026.
Our findings provide practical guidance for agroforestry management by demonstrating that intercropping with selected species can mitigate damage from leaf‐cutter ants in cacao agroforests. At the landscape scale, high tree cover was associated with low herbivory rates, emphasising the need to maintain or restore forested habitats.

Iron, arginine, and redox metabolism in peripheral blood mononuclear cells distinguishes sickle cell disease and pulmonary hypertension

open access: yesHemaSphere, Volume 10, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a severe vascular complication of sickle cell disease (SCD); yet, not all patients with SCD develop PH, and PH also arises independently. This duality underscores the need to understand their intersecting biology.
