Radial boundary layer structure and Nusselt number in Rayleigh–Bénard convection [PDF]
Results from direct numerical simulation (DNS) for three-dimensional Rayleigh–Bénard convection in a cylindrical cell of aspect ratio 1/2 and Prandtl number Pr=0.7 are presented. They span five decades of Rayleigh number Ra from 2 × 106 to 2 × 1011. The results are in good agreement with the experimental data of Niemela et al. (Nature, vol.

Numerical Study of Laminar Forced Convection of Nanofluid in a New Microchannel Heat Sink
The heat transfer and pressure drop in a microchannel heat sink with 02 mixing chambers with inclined walls were numerically studied. The transport equations have been resolved by the finite volume method using ANSYS Fluent software. The operating fluids

River Ice Processes Modelling: A Comprehensive Review
ABSTRACT River ice strongly influences hydrology, hydrodynamics, and ecosystems in cold regions, with an impact on flooding, hydropower generation, navigation, and aquatic habitats. Modeling river ice processes is therefore essential for both scientific understanding and operational management.

Theoretical Assessment of the Sodium Pool Fire's Burning Rate in an Open Environment
An evaporation‐based model is developed for sodium pool fires. Experiments demonstrate that the burning rate increases with pool diameter and approaches a quasi‐saturated limit (∼0.013 kg m−2 s−1) governed by oxidation product conversion. ABSTRACT The burning rate of sodium pool fires is a critical parameter for assessing fire development and ...

Low‐Temperature Experimental Characterization of Magnetite‐Based Rock‐Bed Thermal Battery
The graphical abstract illustrates the proposed low‐temperature magnetite‐based rock‐bed thermal energy storage (RTES) concept for greenhouse applications and the corresponding experimental configuration. During charging, thermal energy is transferred from solar collectors to the RTES and is stored as sensible heat. During discharge, the stored heat is
