Nusselt number of a sphere in creeping flow

International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 1990
Abstract Rates of heat or mass transfer from a spherical droplet translating in a field under creeping flow conditions are examined. The existing expressions for Nusselt numbers are evaluated via an independent numerical analysis.

A study of Nusselt and Sherwood numbers in a monolith reactor

Catalysis Today, 1999
Abstract A two-dimensional model of a single channel of a monolith reactor is used to evaluate the values of the Nusselt and Sherwood numbers under reaction conditions. The circular channel is assumed to have axisymmetry with a first-order reaction occurring at the wall.

Nusselt number correlation for a jacketed stirred tank using computational fluid dynamics

Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2019
One of the biggest challenges related to mixing tanks is the heat exchange. Several studies have been developed to obtain Nusselt number correlations that represent the heat transfer coefficient by convection.

Drop Nusselt numbers in dropwise condensation

Applied Scientific Research, 1974
Most of the theoretical studies in dropwise condensation have based their analysis on the principle that the heat transfer rate limiting mechanism in dropwise condensation is the conduction of heat through drops. Based on this principle, Fatica and Katz presented shape factor values for droplets and these values have been used by other studies.

Effects of outlet area on the Nusselt number of the solar chimney

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2021
Solar chimney has been applied widely in many aspects, such as civil engineering and building physics and demonstrated to be a good solution for natural ventilation of dwellings. It uses absorbed solar radiation to create stack effect which induces air flow and increases ventilation of building.

A New Correlation of Nusselt Number for Impinging Jets

Heat Transfer Engineering, 2009
Jet impingement heat transfer has received a remarkable amount of attention by researchers throughout the world for many years due to widespread interest from both academic and industrial points of view. However, the fluid dynamics involved with arrays of jets are very complex and still not completely understood. Therefore, a functional relationship of

Nusselt Number Measurements for Turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard Convection

Physical Review Letters, 2003
We present high-precision measurements of the Nusselt number N as a function of the Rayleigh number R for a cylindrical sample of water (Prandtl number sigma=4.4) of height L approximately equal to 50 cm and aspect ratio Gamma identical with D/L approximately equal to 1 (D is the diameter) for 3 x 10(9)< or =R< or =6 x 10(10).

Procedure for Optimal Formalization of Nusselt Number

2016
Theoretical equations of Nusselt number are derived out based on our innovative similarity transformation model. Such theoretical equations show that the wall similarity temperature gradient is the only one unknown variable dominating the evaluation of the Nusselt number.

The limiting Sherwood and Nusselt numbers in sphere-packed beds

Letters in Heat and Mass Transfer, 1977
A model for calculating the limiting values of the Sherwood and the Nusselt numbers is proposed. It is argued that these numbers, when based on local driving forces, must approach finite values as the Reynolds number approaches zero. The calculated results are in good agreement with available experimental data.

Evaluation of Nusselt number and effectiveness for a vertical shell-coiled tube heat exchanger with air bubble injection into shell side

, 2017
Air bubble injection was employed to increase the heat transfer rate (Nusselt number) of a vertical shell and coiled tube heat exchanger in this article. Hot and cold water flowed into the coil side and shell side of heat exchanger, respectively, and air
