Methods for Using Nutrient Intake Values (NIVs) to Assess or Plan Nutrient Intakes
Food and Nutrition Bulletin, 2007This article describes the methods for using nutrient intake values (NIVs) to plan and assess intakes of both individuals and population groups. The advantages of the more recent standards, which use an average nutrient requirement (ANR) and its standard deviation to describe the distribution of nutrient requirements, are highlighted.

Children's nutrient intake at preschool and at home
Acta Paediatrica, 2001A preschool‐based dietary survey, using 7‐d records, was carried out in a suburb of Stockholm. The aim was to assess the intake of food and the quality of the diet of preschool children aged 3–5y at preschool and at home, and to compare the dietary intake with the Swedish dietary recommendations for preschool children.

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1985To the Editor.— In their report, "Alcohol, Nutrient Intake, and Hypertension in US Adults," Gruchow et al 1 conclude that their results reaffirm the importance of sodium intake on blood pressure among US adults. This conclusion is open to criticism on two counts.

Protein nitrogen appearance (PNA) indirectly estimates the mean protein intake during the short interdialysis period, but it does not measure the daily nutrient intake, which is generally unknown.
