Influence of Hypothermia on Utilization of Nutrients by Chickens
Zentralblatt für Veterinärmedizin Reihe A, 2010Summary Studler-Cornish chickens aged 15 and 30 days were exposed to slight hypothermia (12 ± 1 °C, 7 h per day, for 15 days). Food intake was not influenced, but cold-exposure enhanced the elimination and decreased the assimilation of some nutrients and in the younger group it induced depletion of energy reserves in muscle and liver.

Utilization of Energy Nutrients by Cerebellar Slices
Neurochemical Research, 2002We performed an ontogenetic study about the utilization of glycine, glutamine, beta-hydroxybutyrate and glycerol as energy nutrients by rat cerebellum slices. Production of CO2 from glycerol and glutamine increased with the animals' age and glutamine was the most used nutrient for CO2 production.
