Journal of Food Composition and Analysis, 2009The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) for obtaining public comments on modernizing the Nutrition and Supplements Facts label. Public comments to specific questions asked in the ANPRM will be considered by FDA for future rulemaking.

The authors conduct a large-scale empirical study to examine the effect of adoption of FOP labeling on products’ nutritional quality.

"Nutrition facts" label use in the selection of healthier foods by undergraduate students
2017Use of "Nutrition Facts" panel on food labels was studied in the selection of healthier substitutes for foods normally consumed by 276 undergraduates, mean age, 19.7+2.5 years. Among 1095 label pairs (3.97 per student), 80.6% included a "healthier" substitute.
