Muscular = Fake? Testing a Picture‐Word Pairing Procedure to Increase Muscle Appearance Satisfaction in Young Men

open access: yesEuropean Eating Disorders Review, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective When men compare their bodies to those of muscular fitness models, this may result in dissatisfaction with their own muscularity. We tested whether pairing pictures of male muscular‐ideal models with synonyms of ‘fake’ results in an increase in muscle satisfaction and a decrease in self‐objectification among young men.

Correlates and Predictors of Binge Eating Disorder in Male Populations: A Systematic Review

open access: yesEuropean Eating Disorders Review, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This PRISMA‐compliant systematic review synthesises empirical literature on correlates and predictors of DSM‐5/DSM‐IV Binge Eating Disorder (BED) in male populations (PROSPERO: CRD420250644500). Method Eligible studies used male‐only samples, sex‐stratified analyses, or comparisons involving men with BED.

Donkwa Enriched With Goron‐Tula (Azanza garckeana) Modulates Sexual Behavior and Activity of Enzymes Linked With Erectile Dysfunction in High‐Fat Diets/ Streptozotocin‐Induced (STZ/HFD) Diabetic Rats

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
(A) Mount number, (B) mount latency, (C) intromission number, and (D) intromission latency are the parameters of sexual behavior. Met = metformin. D100 = 100 Donkwa. D90G10 = 90% Donkwa + 10% Goron‐Tula. D85G15 = 85% Donkwa + 15% Goron‐Tula. D80G20 = 80% Donkwa + 20% Goron‐Tula. The mean ± standard error of the mean (SEM) expressed the results. *Values

Optimising the Eco‐Friendly Extraction of Carotenoids From Gac Fruit: A Sustainable Solution for Natural Red Food Colourants

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Gac fruit's high carotenoid content, especially in the aril, makes it an excellent natural red pigment source for food applications, offering a safer alternative to synthetic dyes. Ethanol extraction achieved the highest overall pigment recovery (89.53%), whereas ethyl lactate extraction yielded the highest levels of total carotenoids, β‐carotene ...

Effect of Pretreatment Methods on the Proximate Composition, Antinutritional Factors, Antioxidants Properties, and In Vitro Antidiabetic Activities of Hypsizygus ulmarius

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
The effect of pretreatment methods on the proximate content, antinutrient factors, antioxidant, and in vitro antidiabetic activities of elm oyster mushroom was studied. It was observed and statistically concluded that soaking in 0.5% salt solution for 5 min had the least deteriorating effect on the antioxidant and in vitro antidiabetic activities ...

Postharvest Management to Preserve the Nutritional Quality of Vegetables: An Overview Based on Current Research Findings Across the Globe

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, EarlyView.
Postharvest losses in vegetables extend beyond mere quantitative reduction through physical deterioration and spoilage; they encompass substantial qualitative degradation, particularly the deterioration of critical nutritional constituents. Following harvest, vegetables maintain metabolic activity, and when subjected to suboptimal environmental ...

Comparison of Free and Bound Benzoic Acid Naturally Occurring in Vaccinium and Prunus Fruits by Ultrasound‐Assisted and Conventional Extraction Methods

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Ultrasound‐assisted extraction (UAE) recovered 16%–41% more benzoic acid from Vaccinium and Prunus fruits than conventional shaking extraction (CSE), highlighting the importance of extraction method when estimating total releasable benzoic acid for analytical and food‐safety applications.
