Cutting through the noise: What can habitat selection modeling teach us about caribou‐fire space use dynamics?

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
We synthesize the current knowledge regarding caribou habitat selection in relation to wildfires. Caribou responses to recent burns were generally weak and highly variable across subspecies or ecotypes, suggesting that post‐fire habitat selection is likely context‐dependent and the need for regionally adapted habitat management strategies.

Post‐release tracking to monitor success of black cockatoo rehabilitation in Western Australia

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
Post‐release tracking of rehabilitated black cockatoos in Western Australia showed high success (79.4%), with survival, self‐feeding, and flock reintegration achieved by most birds. Larger resident flocks were significantly associated with improved post‐release outcomes.

Long‐term seroepidemiology of European brown hare syndrome in European and Italian hares in Tuscany (Italy)

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
We investigated the presence of European Brown Hare Syndrome (EBHS) in wild hare populations in the province of Grosseto (Italy) over a 16‐year period. The results showed that EBHS is widespread, with about two‐thirds of hares showing evidence of past infection. European hares were more frequently exposed than the rarer Italian hare.

Stage‐Dependent Prognostic Value of the Joint MASLD–NAFLD Fibrosis Score Phenotype Across the Cardiovascular–Kidney–Metabolic Syndrome Continuum: A Retrospective NHANES Cohort Analysis, 1999–2018

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The cardiovascular–kidney–metabolic (CKM) framework and metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) describe a shared clinical continuum, but the prognostic value of joint fatty liver index (FLI)–NAFLD fibrosis score (NFS) phenotypes across CKM stages is uncertain.

Validation of Modified Albumin‐Bilirubin‐Tumor Stage as a Prognostic Model in Early‐Stage Hepatocellular Carcinoma Treated With Radiofrequency Ablation

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Survival after radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for very early‐ or early‐stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains heterogeneous because prognosis depends on both tumor burden and hepatic reserve. We retrospectively evaluated treatment‐naive patients with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) Stages 0 or A HCC treated with RFA as initial ...
