Growth As a Measure of Nutritional Status
Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, 1985Growth data have been used as a measure of nutritional status and disease activity in children. This review discusses common anthropometric techniques and emphasizes the inference of nutritional status from these measurements. As multiple factors influence growth, it is often difficult to isolate the effects of nutrition alone.

Physical measurement and nutritional status
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1935Summary Numerical distinctions in weight, musculature, and subcutaneous tissue are reported for eight children with proper allowance made for differences in four skeletal dimensions. These distinctions are presented as objective and valid physical signs of nutritional status. The interpretation of these physical signs is discussed.
