Protection and Delivery of Phytochemicals from Passive Encapsulation to Guaranteed Self‐Assembly Induced by Amyloid Template for Chronic Disease Prevention via Modulating Microbial‐Host Crosstalk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The rising incidence of chronic diseases globally has drawn widespread attention to phytochemicals, which exert targeted preventive and alleviating effect by modulating gut microbiota; thus, a potential strategy for precision nutritional interventions is offered.

Alternating High‐Fat and Polysaccharide Diets Modulates Gut Phage‐Bacterial Interplay

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals how alternating high‐fat and polysaccharide diets reshape the human gut virome and enhance phage‐bacteria interactions. Using large‐scale metagenomic meta‐analysis and a time‐resolved mouse model, the authors show that diets strongly modulate phage abundance, lifestyle, and gene exchange, offering new insights into nutrition‐guided ...

Portuguese Retailers’ Motivations to Adopt Front of Pack Nutrition Labels: A Qualitative Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
Nutrition is an important food marketing differentiation criterion. There is growing evidence of the relation between diets and health conditions. Thus there is a potential conflict between industry and public health authorities over the use of nutrition

The Gut Commensal Butyricimonas Virosa Modulates Gut Microbiota‐Dependent Thiamine Metabolism and Attenuates Mouse Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that dietary stachyose enriches Butyricimonas virosa, effectively attenuating metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Mechanistically, B. virosa enhances gut thiamine monophosphate synthesis, which elevates hepatic thiamine pyrophosphate levels.

Consumer attitudes toward GM food with hypothetical functional characteristics [PDF]

open access: yes
Since their introduction in the early 1990s, genetically modified organisms in agriculture tended to emphasize improved yield. Europeans, perceiving unacceptable risk and too little benefit, resoundingly disapproved of GMO use in agro-food processes ...

Targeted Mitochondrial ECSIT Overexpression Attenuates MASH by Increasing OTUD3 Expression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial ECSIT expression is reduced during MASH pathogenesis. Overexpression of mitochondrial ECSIT mitigates steatohepatitis and maintains hepatic metabolic homeostasis. Mechanistically, ECSIT enhances intramitochondrial OTUD3 expression to stabilize SIRT3 through deubiquitination, thus preserving mitochondrial function and impeding disease ...

Derived Demand for Food Nutrients as Welfare Indicator of Biofortified Crops: High-Iron Rice in the Philippines [PDF]

open access: yes
The study estimates potential consumer gains from the introduction of High-Iron Rice in the Philippines. By deriving the demand for dietary iron from a national survey on household food consumption and expenditure, we project consumer welfare ...
