Pathological findings in the red fox (Vulpes vulpes), stone marten (Martes foina) and raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides), with special emphasis on infectious and zoonotic agents in Northern Germany [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Anthropogenic landscape changes contributed to the reduction of availability of habitats to wild animals. Hence, the presence of wild terrestrial carnivores in urban and peri-urban sites has increased considerably over the years implying an increased ...

Reducing data processing effort in camera trap density estimation: Extending the REST model by explicitly modelling animal detection processes

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 3, Page 850-862, March 2026.
Abstract Accurate and reliable estimation of wildlife population density is fundamental to effective conservation and management. While camera traps show potential for monitoring ground‐dwelling mammal densities, labour‐intensive data processing remains a significant constraint. Ideally, conservation efforts would benefit from the continuous monitoring

Male Pseudohermaphroditism in a Raccoon Dog (Nyctereutes procynoides)

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 2005
A wild raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procynoides) which died due to a traffic accident on 18 October 2001, and was determined to be 4.5 years old, was examined. Visual appearance of the external genitalia in this animal showed to be female with a large penis-like clitoris protruding from the vulvar juncture.

The first record of raccoon dog ( Nyctereutes procyonoides ) in Turkey

open access: yesTURKISH JOURNAL OF ZOOLOGY, 2020
The raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides) was recorded for the first time in Turkey on May 10, 2019, and June 5, 2019, in the same location after 4668 nights of camera trapping in the forests of the Sarıkamış region and Allahuekber Mountains in eastern Turkey.

Structure and antigenicity analysis of the IgG gene for Nyctereutes procyonoides [PDF]

open access: yesCentral European Journal of Immunology, 2015
Nyctereutes procyonoides immunoglobulin G (IgG) gene is partially cloned. In order to obtain a certain length (966bp) of Nyctereutes procyonoides immunoglobulin G (IgG), two pairs of primers are designed according to the conserved nucleotide sequence of canine (GenBank:AF354265, AF354265, AF354266, AF354267) and mink (GenBank: L07789).
