1997Abstract Although relatively small, the sedimentary rock-hosted Sterling Mine has been the largest gold producer in the Bare Mountain district in southern Nye County, with total production of about 130,000 troy ounces between 1983 and 1996.

Geology of the southern Reveille Range, Nye County, Nevada
2008The Reveille Range in central Nevada provides a unique window into the mid-Miocene geology and volcanology of the central Great Basin during the "ignimbrite flare up." Although faulted along its margins, the interior of the range is relatively undeformed thus preserving volcanic centers.

AAPG Bulletin, 1983Abstract Trap Spring Field was discovered in 1976, becoming the second commercial oil field in Nevada, The first, Eagle Springs, was discovered in 1954, and is about six miles east of Trap Spring. Currant, a third non-commercial one-well field, was found in 1978 and is about seven miles north of Eagle Springs.

Geological Society of America Bulletin, 1966Small, vertically elongate concretionlike structures, here called rhizoconcretions, are found in scattered localities in and near the southern part of the Belted Range of Nye County, Nevada. The rhizoconcretions occur within a stratigraphically restricted zone in bedded vitric ash-fall tuff of late Tertiary age.
