Biotic Assembly of the Species of Triatomini (Hemiptera: Reduviidae: Triatominae) in the Mexican and South American Transition Zones

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim To infer the biogeographic history of the Triatomini by evaluating how their species became part of the biogeographic transition zones of the New World. This group of blood‐feeding insects includes key vectors of Chagas disease. Understanding their dispersal and diversification over geological time may help elucidate the temporal dynamics ...

Vector Biology of the Soft Scales Parthenolecanium corni (Bouché) and Parthenolecanium persicae (Fabricius) (Hemiptera: Coccidae) With Grapevine Leafroll‐Associated Viruses and Grapevine Virus A

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 149, Issue 3, Page 405-416, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Controlled experiments were conducted to enrich our knowledge on the transmission of different grapevine leafroll‐associated ampeloviruses (GLRaV‐1, ‐2, ‐3 and ‐4) by Parthenolecanium corni scale insect and to look for vector ability of Parthenolecanium persicae. GLRaV‐1 and the vitivirus GVA were transmitted by P.

Evaluation of Trap Crops and the Presence of the Predator Nabis americoferus for the Management of the Tarnished Plant Bug in Strawberries

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 149, Issue 3, Page 372-383, April 2025.
ABSTRACT The polyphagous tarnished plant bug (TPB), Lygus lineolaris (Palisot de Beauvois) (Hemiptera: Miridae), inflicts substantial damage to strawberries and to several other valuable crops, impacting both yield quantity and quality. Effective control strategies are crucial to mitigate these losses. This study aimed to elucidate TPB host preferences

Legume‐Colonising Aphids as Potential PNYDV‐Vectors: Reproduction and Infestation Dynamics in Two Different Field Bean Varieties

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 149, Issue 3, Page 442-451, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Faba bean can be infected by Pea necrotic yellow dwarf virus (PNYDV), a novel pathogen throughout Europe, and transmitted persistently by several legume‐colonising aphid species. Recent field screenings in Austria and Germany of different faba bean varieties were encouraging as consistently the lowest viral symptom development in the variety ...

Rice black‐streaked dwarf virus‐encoded P6 protein impairs OsPelota‐mediated antiviral RNA decay defense via promoting OsSCE1b ubiquitination and degradation in rice

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
The P6 protein encoded by rice black‐streaked dwarf virus enhances degradation of the rice SUMO E2 conjugating enzyme OsSCE1b through the ubiquitin/26S proteasome pathway; OsSCE1b degradation results in decreased SUMOylation of OsPelota, thereby suppressing RNA decay‐dependent antiviral defenses in rice. ABSTRACT Rice black‐streaked dwarf virus (RBSDV)

How Do People Conceptualize Narcissism and Narcissistic Individuals?

open access: yesJournal of Personality, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Although past decades have seen notable advances in the conceptualization and assessment of narcissism, scholarship examining lay conceptualizations of the construct remains limited. Method We report two studies utilizing bottom‐up, participant‐driven methodologies to examine public understandings of narcissism and narcissistic ...

Postglacial Echoes: Parasite Genomics Uncover Environmental Changes in Postglacial European Lakes

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Postglacial environmental changes have influenced biodiversity and species evolution, yet the genomic and demographic responses of parasites remain underexplored. This study investigates the population genetics and demographic history of the flatworm Phyllodistomum umblae, a generalist trematode at the definitive host level infecting Coregonus
