The Use of Phase Lag and Amplification Error Derivatives for the Construction of a Modified Runge-Kutta-Nyström Method

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
A new modified Runge-Kutta-Nyström method of fourth algebraic order is developed. The new modified RKN method is based on the fitting of the coefficients, due to the nullification not only of the phase lag and of the amplification error, but also of ...

New explicit trigonometrically-fitted fourth-order and fifth-order Runge-Kutta-Nyström methods for periodic initial value problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this work, we derive two new Runge-Kutta-Nyström (RKN) methods for solving periodic second order ordinary differential equations. We constructed these methods based on the RKN method of three-stage fourth-order derived by Garcia and RKN method of four-

Long‐Term Effects of a Web‐Based Exercise Programme for People With Intellectual Disabilities

open access: yesJournal of Intellectual Disability Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Physical activity is essential for preventing noncommunicable diseases and improving health parameters. However, individuals with intellectual disabilities often struggle to meet recommended activity levels. Sustainable solutions and long‐term follow‐up are crucial for evaluating intervention efficacy.

The effect of early diagenetic processes on the quantification of fossil micrometeorite abundance and flux in the geological record

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Fossil micrometeorites (MMs) recovered from lithified sedimentary rocks, particularly iron‐rich (I‐type) cosmic spherules (CSs) provide valuable insights into past dust‐forming events. Their abundances, when combined with estimates of local sedimentation rates can be used to reconstruct the flux of extraterrestrial dust.

Delayed Dental Development in Children With Non‐Syndromic Hypodontia: A Cross‐Sectional Study Using a Machine Learning Approach to Dental Age Estimation

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To investigate the influence of non‐syndromic hypodontia on radiographic dental development and to estimate dental age in children with bilateral mandibular agenesis using a machine learning approach. Materials and Methods This retrospective cross‐sectional study included 626 children aged 6–15 years (311 with dental agenesis, 315 ...

How breathing disrupts vision: hyperventilation‐induced hypocapnia impairs oculomotor responses in resting humans

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Hypocapnic hyperventilation reduced end‐tidal carbon dioxide partial pressure and middle cerebral artery mean velocity, and impaired oculomotor response by modulating visual fixation and anti‐saccadic control. Hyperventilation itself also impaired anti‐saccadic control.

A fast integral equation method for solid particles in viscous flow using quadrature by expansion

open access: yes, 2016
Boundary integral methods are advantageous when simulating viscous flow around rigid particles, due to the reduction in number of unknowns and straightforward handling of the geometry.

Phenomenological research in the field of Infant Mental Health and Early Childhood (IECMH) ‐A mapping review

open access: yesInfant Mental Health Journal: Infancy and Early Childhood, Volume 47, Issue 2, March 2026.
Abstract Infant Mental Health and Early Childhood (IECMH) is a field of study of infants and the developing relationship and the optimal development between infants and their caregivers. Phenomenological research within the well‐being of infants and caregivers has core importance in the comprehension of the subjectivity of the infant and the attachment

Revisiting the Nystrom Method for Improved Large-Scale Machine Learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We reconsider randomized algorithms for the low-rank approximation of symmetric positive semi-definite (SPSD) matrices such as Laplacian and kernel matrices that arise in data analysis and machine learning applications.
