The Road Towards “Zero Energy” in Buildings: Lessons Learned from SOLARXXI Building in Portugal [PDF]
In this paper the authors intend to share the lessons learned in the designing process of a solar office building currently underway to reach the Net Zero-Energy performance. Solar XXI building was built in Lisbon in 2006 as a demonstration project [1].

A Quantitative Approach to Modeling the Overconsumption of Energy in Healthcare Buildings
Healthcare buildings consume 2.6 times more energy than commercial buildings, primarily due to the operation of electromedical equipment and the stringent indoor environmental requirements for medical practice. This fact underscores the need for research aimed at addressing the high intensity of energy consumption.

The Willingness of Dutch Citizens to Participate in a Prosumer Community: A Stated Choice Experiment [PDF]
The demand for energy in the world is continually rising. The local prosumer communities can be well-placed to identify local energy needs, establish and support initiatives to reduce the energy demand. This paper aims to

Net Zero Energy‐Ready Buildings: A Canadian Construction Perspective and Evaluation
The design process for net‐zero energy‐ready buildings (NZErB) enhances energy resilience. This study assesses the potential of new and retrofit buildings in Canada to achieve NZErB status, using key performance indicators. Most new buildings and many retrofit ones meet level 5 in airtightness, TEDI, MEUI, and energy efficiency, with cellulose ...

Legal challenges in the implementation of Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEB) in Spain
Construction activities that include renovation work and energy retrofits add almost twice as much value as the construction of new buildings, and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) contribute more than 70% of the value added in the EU building ...

Five regio‐ and stereoselective P450s from distinct clades on the evolutionary tree are recognized for catalyzing the dimerization of indole‐containing diketopiperazines, as revealed through bioinformatic analysis and heterologous expression. Additionally, the chemical diversity of dimeric DKPs is broadened through synthetic biology approaches.

The Social, Educational, and Market Scenario for nZEB in Europe
Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEB) are a significant part of the energy efficiency strategy of the European Union. As buildings represent approximately 40% of the final energy use in Europe, the reduction of their energy demand is key for a sustainable ...

We report structures of a new class of CDP‐modifying P450 enzymes, termed GymBx. The enzymes catalyse both an intramolecular C−C bond formation within cyclo‐l‐Tyr‐l‐Tyr and a nucleobase transfer reaction, which is unique for CDP‐modifying P450 enzymes. Our structures shed light into CDP binding and nucleobase transfer.
