A framework for evaluating reproducibility and replicability in economics

open access: yesEconomic Inquiry, Volume 63, Issue 2, Page 338-356, April 2025.
Abstract We propose a framework for evaluating reproducibility and replicability in economics. Reproducibility is defined as testing if the results of an original study can be reproduced using the same data and replicability is defined as testing if the results of an original study hold in new data.

Facilitation of I Kr current by some hERG channel blockers suppresses early afterdepolarizations. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Drug-induced block of the cardiac rapid delayed rectifying potassium current (I Kr), carried by the human ether-a-go-go-related gene (hERG) channel, is the most common cause of acquired long QT syndrome.

Asymmetric planar terahertz metamaterials

open access: yes, 2010
We report an experimental observation of three distinct resonances in split ring resonators (SRRs) for both vertical and horizontal electric field polarizations at normal incidence by use of terahertz time domain spectroscopy.

Beyond Brunhild: reassessing women in the Fredegar Chronicle

open access: yesEarly Medieval Europe, EarlyView.
Scholarly consideration of women in the seventh‐century Fredegar chronicle has long been dominated by the author’s hostility towards Brunhild, queen of Austrasia. Statistical analysis of Latin world chronicles before ad 900, however, shows that Fredegar’s representation of women was unusually high within this tradition.

Euler elasticae in the plane and the Whitney--Graustein theorem

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, we apply classical energy principles to Euler elasticae, i.e., closed C^2 curves in the plane supplied with the Euler functional U (the integral of the square of the curvature along the curve).

ESG Thematic Bonds in Emerging Markets: Risk, Uncertainty, and Ambiguity

open access: yesEuropean Financial Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We examine the impact of risk aversion, ambiguity, and uncertainty (geopolitical and economic) on the ESG thematic bond markets in emerging countries. We analyze ESG sovereign (both USD and local currency denominated) and corporate bond markets on the aggregate and regional levels.

The Effects of Country Governance Quality on Corporate Sustainability and Ethical Behaviour

open access: yesEuropean Financial Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Using institutional theory, we examine how country governance affects two ESG outcomes: ESG performance and ESG controversies. With Refinitiv/LSEG data for ~146,000 firm‐years in 86 countries (2002–2023) and World Bank WGI, we apply a Mundlak within/between decomposition to test complementarity versus substitution (performance) and prevention ...

Satellite-Based Thermophysical Analysis of Volcaniclastic Deposits: A Terrestrial Analog for Mantled Lava Flows on Mars

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2016
Orbital thermal infrared (TIR) remote sensing is an important tool for characterizing geologic surfaces on Earth and Mars. However, deposition of material from volcanic or eolian activity results in bedrock surfaces becoming significantly mantled over ...

Geopolitical Risk and Domestic Bank Deposits

open access: yesFinancial Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We investigate the relationship between global geopolitical risk and bank deposit flows across a wide panel of European countries. Motivated by the pivotal role of deposit stability for financial intermediation and systemic resilience, we explore whether geopolitical shocks alter depositors’ portfolio choices.
