Epidermal Cell Dynamics Regulates Rice Lamina Joint Morphogenesis and Leaf Angle Formation through OsZHD1 and OsZHD2 Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The lamina joint determines leaf angle and plant architecture. Xu et al. establish a live‐imaging system for the rice lamina joint and reveal that asymmetric epidermal cell elongation and division between the lateral and medial edges drive leaf angle formation.

Structural Basis of the Membrane Association by the Conserved RocS Membrane‐Targeting Sequence in Streptococcus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chromosome segregation in Streptococcus pneumoniae depends on RocS, a bitopic protein whose membrane‐anchoring mechanisms were unclear. Using NMR and AFM, this study reveals that the widely conserved RocS anchor binds to membranes via a conserved kink‐helix motif which inserts into lipid nanodomains.

Metarhizium anisopliaeMitigates the Phytotoxicity of Lead and Nanoplastics on Rice by Modifying Physiological, Transcriptomic, Metabolomic Activities, and Soil Microbiome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metarhizium anisopliae alleviates the phytotoxic effects of polyethylene nanoplastics (NP) and lead (Pb) in rice by decreasing Pb uptake, restoring antioxidant and hormonal equilibrium, and promoting growth. Additionally, the fungus modifies the rhizosphere microbiota, enhancing both contaminant tolerance and plant growth, thereby effectively ...

Growth and Survival Rate after Maturity in Oryza sativa L. and O. glaberrima Steud.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Crop Science, 1999
Ten cultivars of O. sativa (6 japonica, 2 indica, and 2 japonica×indika) and five cultivars of O. glaberrima were grown in pots. Half of each cultivar was cut at 10 cm above the ground at maturity, and the other half remained uncut. Both were grown under two different day-length conditions with a suitbable temperature. The growth state at maturity, the

Additive and Partially Dominant Effects from Genomic Variation Contribute to Rice Heterosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Additive and partially dominant effects, namely at mid‐parent levels or values between mid‐parent and parental levels, respectively, are the predominant inheritance patterns of heterosis‐associated molecules. These two genetic effects contribute to heterosis of agronomic traits in both rice and maize, as well as biomass heterosis in Arabidopsis ...
