Perturbative renormalisation of quark bilinear operators for overlap fermions with and without stout links and improved gauge action [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We calculate lattice renormalisation constants of local and one-link quark operators for overlap fermions and improved gauge actions in one-loop perturbation theory. For the local operators we stout smear the SU(3) links in the fermionic action.

Impact of lipid asymmetry on membrane biophysical properties: Insights from molecular dynamics simulations

open access: yesQuantitative Biology, Volume 13, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract Asymmetry between outer and inner leaflets of cell membrane, such as variations in phospholipid composition, cholesterol (CHOL) distribution, stress levels, and ion environments, could significantly influence the biophysical properties of membranes, including the lateral organization of lipids and the formation of membrane nanodomains.

Across 33 broad‐leaved deciduous woody species, silicon enhances leaf lamina stiffness but not tensile strength whereas cellulose enhances both

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 246, Issue 5, Page 2075-2083, June 2025.
Summary Silicon (Si) has been hypothesized to be a metabolically cheaper substitute for carbon‐based cell wall components to support leaves. However, how the biomechanical function of Si, deposited as amorphous silica, differs from cell wall components remains untested. Here, we tested the hypothesis that species with higher leaf Si concentrations have

Innovation strategies of Swiss firms: identification, dynamics and intra-industry heterogeneity

open access: yesEconomics: Journal Articles, 2019
The study aims at providing new evidence with respect to the still unresolved question, whether the innovation behaviour of firms reflects industry-specific characteristics (“technological regime approach”), or whether it is the outcome of firm-specific ...

CMB low multipole alignments in the $\mathbf{\Lambda}$CDM and Dipolar models

open access: yes, 2015
The dipolar model \cite{Gordon:2005ai} has attracted much interest because it may phenomenologically explain the CMB hemispherical power asymmetry found in the WMAP and Planck data. Since such a model explicitly breaks isotropy at large angular scales it

Safety of the proposed amendment of the specifications of the food additive E960c(i) or E960c(ii)

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract The EFSA Panel on Food Additives and Flavourings (FAF Panel) provides a scientific opinion on the safety of the proposed amendment of the EU specifications of Rebaudioside M produced via enzyme‐catalysed bioconversion (E960c(i) or E 960c(ii)), to include a different microorganism strain in the definition.

A comparison of microcrystal electron diffraction and X‐ray powder diffraction for the structural analysis of metal–organic frameworks

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 58, Issue 2, Page 398-411, April 2025.
Microcrystal electron diffraction (microED) was used to determine the crystal structure of a recently synthesized metal–organic framework (MOF) from powder crystallites. The structural descriptions of two other MOFs by microED are compared with results previously published using X‐ray powder diffraction supported by density functional theory ...
