Evolutionary Context of Non–Sorbitol-Fermenting Shiga Toxin–Producing Escherichia coli O55:H7 [PDF]

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2017
In July 2014, an outbreak of Shiga toxin–producing Escherichia coli (STEC) O55:H7 in England involved 31 patients, 13 (42%) of whom had hemolytic uremic syndrome.

Tissue Tropism of Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli Strains Belonging to the O55 Serogroup [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 2002
ABSTRACT Four enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) strains belonging to the O55 serogroup (G21 and G30 [both O55:H6], G35 [O55:H−], and G58 [O55:H7]) were tested for their tissue tropism by using human intestinal in vitro organ culture.

Clonal structure and virulence factors in strains of Escherichia coli of the classic serogroup O55 [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1996
Virulence properties and genetic variation as determined by multilocus enzyme electrophoresis were studied in 70 strains of Escherichia coli 055, a common serogroup of enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC), a major cause of infantile diarrhea in developing countries.

Bovine Escherichia coli of serotypes O55:H4 and O55:H21 which produce CNF2 express P fimbriae and Vir surface antigen, respectively [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1992
We have characterized the toxic and adhesive properties of Escherichia coli strains producing the second type of cytotoxic necrotizing factor (CNF2) and belonging to the classic enteropathogenic serogroup O55. Bovine CNF2 strains of serotype O55:H4 express P fimbriae as do pyelonephritic Escherichia coli that cause infections in humans.

Inflation, Inflation Uncertainty and the Economic Growth Nexus: A Review of the Literature

open access: yesFolia Oeconomica Stetinensia, 2022
Research background: Price stability plays a crucial role in ensuring stabilities in the financial markets as well as the real sector. Despite this, questions are still raised, querying if it is either inflation, inflation uncertainty or a combination of

Colicinogeny of O55 EPEC diarrhoeagenic Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1991
Approximately 24% of a sample of pathogenic Escherichia coli strains from different serogroups were found to synthesize colicins. Serogroup O55 had an unusually large proportion of such strains (33%). In a sample of 27 O55 isolates, one synthesized a class A colicin (identified as ColE9), five produced class B colicins (three ColIa, two, unidentifiable)

The Dynamics of Foreign Aid Trends and Patterns Among Low- Income Countries in Africa

open access: yesFolia Oeconomica Stetinensia, 2020
Research background: Foreign aid flows to Africa mostly the Low-Income Countries (LICs) have increased drastically since 2000. Increasing aid flows are expected to stimulate economic growth that can release resources towards enabling LICs to reduce aid ...
