エンバク冠さび菌の親和性レースを接種した3品種のエンバク子苗を接種2-4日後に35C, 8時間で処理すると,夏胞子堆形成が著しく阻害された。高温処理の部位は接種部を含んでいることが必須であった。同処理条件は菌体に直接影響して致死効果を示すものではなく,宿主に作用して抵抗性を誘導することが茎の切断処理による実験で確認された。接種5日後には高温処理の影響は現われなかった。高温処理初生葉において,夏胞子堆形成が阻害された場合にはリポキシゲナーゼアイソザイムが特異的に出現することから,本酵素が抵抗性発現に関与すると考えた。
