Obesitas dapat meningkatkan masalah kesehatan masyarakat karena merupakan faktor penyebab utama dalam pengembangan berbagai penyakit seperti dislipidemia, aterosklerosis, kardiovaskular dan lainnya. Hal tersebut terjadi melalui peningkatan produksi Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). Peningkatan produksi ROS menyebabkan stres oksidatif hingga kerusakan sel.
