Scaling up eConsult for access to specialists in primary healthcare across four Canadian provinces: study protocol of a multiple case study

open access: yesHealth Research Policy and Systems, 2019
Background Canada has been referred to as the land of ‘perpetual pilot projects’. Effective innovations often remain small in scale, with limited impact on health systems.

A Personalized, 3D Printed Polymeric Device for the Prevention of Post‐Myocardial Infarction Cardiac Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Myocardial infarction often leads to pathological remodelling and ventricular dilatation, key features of HFrEF. This study introduces a personalized, 3D‐printed cardiac restraint device (CARD) printed using rationally designed inks displaying the requested printability and mechanical properties.

Forward-Backward Greedy Algorithms for General Convex Smooth Functions over A Cardinality Constraint [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We consider forward-backward greedy algorithms for solving sparse feature selection problems with general convex smooth functions. A state-of-the-art greedy method, the Forward-Backward greedy algorithm (FoBa-obj) requires to solve a large number of ...

Grounding Large Language Models for Robot Task Planning Using Closed‐Loop State Feedback

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
BrainBody‐Large Language Model (LLM) introduces a hierarchical, feedback‐driven planning framework where two LLMs coordinate high‐level reasoning and low‐level control for robotic tasks. By grounding decisions in real‐time state feedback, it reduces hallucinations and improves task reliability.

NP would like to meet GF: A Welsh Adjectival Construction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this article we examine a Welsh adjectival construction which superficially looks simple but on closer examination proves to be somewhat challenging. The construction contains an NP constituent whose GF status is far from clear.

Formal Proofs for Nonlinear Optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present a formally verified global optimization framework. Given a semialgebraic or transcendental function $f$ and a compact semialgebraic domain $K$, we use the nonlinear maxplus template approximation algorithm to provide a certified lower bound of

Grip and Grasp: Lizard Claw Inspired Robotic Manipulators

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Our study identifies the most effective lizard claw shape for use as an end effector in a bioinspired robotic manipulator. By examining key geometric features and combining them into comparative indices, the Crotaphytus collaris claw is found to be the best fit.

Rapid Design and Fabrication of Body Conformable Surfaces with Kirigami Cutting and Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By integrating the principles of kirigami cutting and data‐driven modeling, this study aims to develop a personalized, rapid, and low‐cost design and fabrication pipeline for creating body‐conformable surfaces around the knee joint. This pipeline presents a balanced trade‐off between conformability performance and cost for personalizing wearables, thus
